Saju (사주) means "four pillars." Four pairs of characters drawn from the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, one pair each for your birth year, month, day, and hour. Together they form a chart that Korean fortune tellers have been reading for centuries. Eight characters total. 팔자 (palja). You've probably heard that word in Korean dramas.
Each pillar holds two characters. The Heavenly Stem (天干) represents one of ten elemental forces. The Earthly Branch (地支) represents one of twelve zodiac animals.
